There is often talk of depopulation of small towns. For years, attempts have been made to remedy this serious scourge that is affecting many towns in Sardinia, especially those in the interior.

A recipe for solving this problem could be to enhance the so-called historical memories: the centenarians. And Cossoine, a small town in the Meilogu of just over 750 inhabitants, inserted within the Union of Municipalities of the Meilogu which includes 12 other villages, celebrates a new centenary.

If last May 1st the 101 years of aunt Giovannangela Chicconi were celebrated, albeit in a lesser tone due to the restrictions against the spread of the coronavirus, now it is the turn of uncle Sebastiano Piras, who has crossed the prestigious milestone of 100 years.

In good health, the new centenary still has an iron memory. In addition to close family members, the municipal administration, represented by the mayor Sabrina Sassu, also wanted to celebrate.
