For Gallura donors registered with Avis Olbia, from today, once the donation has been made, the possibility of accessing a free outpatient service at the Mater Olbia Hospital. The private hospital, in fact, continues its collaboration with the voluntary association and relaunches the "Coro e sambene" project, which started last year and which involved the carrying out, free of charge, of an ECG in the cardiology department, directed by Dr. Maurizio Porcu.
«Today we celebrate the continuation and expansion of a collaboration that we have already had for some time because we want to be a stimulus to blood collection since self-sufficiency in Sardinia, in certain periods, becomes critical and leads to a dangerous slowdown in hospital activity – he stated Marcello Giannico, general director of the Mater Olbia Hospital, present together with the health director Giorgio Sorrentino - To do this we have decided to expand services to those who donate blood; previously we limited ourselves to carrying out the electrocardiogram, now we have decided to add an outpatient service chosen by the donor who will be able to leave his details and decide which specialties to use for the free visit". An activity that will be carried out, on an experimental basis, until the end of the year and which does not exclude a continuation.
«I want to thank the Mater and its management for this great opportunity – said Gavino Felice Murrighile, president of Avis Olbia – A moving and efficient response as attentive management is capable of. The principle of the project is that the donor is at the centre, a donor finally perceived as an athlete, a value of the community." Among the priorities is reversing the tendency to buy blood from other regions. «It can be done differently – added Murrighile – if people meet and if they are willing to invest in projects. We must be able to find blood in Sardinia and be good at stimulating donors. I hope and am sure that this agreement will stir consciences and possibilities also in the public sphere. The culture of donation must involve everyone."
During the blood sample, the Avis Olbia volunteers will collect the patient's personal data, data which will be communicated to the Mater Olbia Hospital which will proceed with the registration and sending the exam booking confirmation via email; you will be asked to present the donation booklet.
