About fifty cyclists left from Piazza Giovanni XXIII for Viale Marconi . Here they stopped at the very point where on the night of Thursday 15 December Giuseppe Incani, the cook of a well-known restaurant in Cagliari, was hit and killed as he was returning home to Quartu Sant'Elena on his bike.

The initiative was conceived by Fiab Cagliari, the Italian Environment and Bicycle Federation. Several cycling associations and also Legambiente have joined. Upon arrival in Viale Marconi, the demonstrators, all wearing yellow reflective bibs and a black arm band as a sign of mourning, placed a bouquet of flowers where the tragedy occurred and observed a minute's silence.

" Today's initiative is meant to be a complaint - said Virgilio Scanu of Fiab Cagliari - we ask for immediate positions from the institutions to which the facts follow: the safety of the roads also for cyclists, with the construction of a cycle path also here in viale Marconi. And we appeal to motorists to go slower. Speed is the cause of 85% of fatal investments by cyclists and pedestrians».
