Direct contributions to airlines and reimbursements to passengers . This is, at least in the Region's intentions, the new Sardinian air continuity model.

A decisive week is about to begin for the new idea of air transport conceived by the Region. Next week, the Sardinian model will be examined by the Regional Council and then, after the green light from the Chamber to the connection in the approval phase , the president Christian Solinas and the transport councilor Antonio Moro fly to Brussels to review the current system of continuity, which is highlighting all its limits.

The meeting of the representatives of the Giunta with the EU Commissioner for Transport is scheduled for Wednesday: «We will bring to the attention of Brussels all the things that are not working, starting from the number of frequencies, which derives from an underestimation of resident traffic volumes by the European Commission,” explains Moro.

It doesn't end here: «We will add to this the novelty introduced at the government level with the cap on the rates of non-residents. We want it to be applied starting above all with connections in territorial continuity". Yesterday the councilorship, based on the government decree, reported to the Authority Volotea for the shock rate (410 euros) applied on a continuous flight from Olbia to Rome, precisely coinciding with the late summer counter-exodus.

Moro also explains concretely how the system of direct refunds to passengers will work: "In the experimentation phase for particular categories of residents there will be a refund of part of the cost incurred for the purchase of the ticket ".
