Prosecutor Guido Pani asked for six sentences and an acquittal in the trial that sees seven people accused for the accident between two trains of the Cagliari surface metro, which took place on January 19, 2016 and injured 85 passengers. .

The accusations are those, for various reasons, of a railway disaster and negligent injuries.

At the end of the indictment in the court of Cagliari, which lasted two hours, Pani asked the two drivers Fabrizio Vilia and Mauro Angioni (who was seriously injured in the crash) to be sentenced to one and a half years with suspended sentences.

On the other hand, a year and nine months were solicited for the traffic control officer Roberto Randaccio, while for the Metrotranvie operating director, Carlo Ornano, the prosecution requested a two-year sentence. A year and nine months were then also required for the manager of railway operations Franco Lai and for the manager of the ARST, Walter Arru.

Instead, the acquittal for the other manager of the Arst, Sergio Romoli, was requested.

According to the allegations of the prosecution, the collision was caused by violations of the regulations, "unsuitable" indications and lack of supervision "on compliance with the procedures" by "personnel".

The trial has been updated to March 10, 2022, when the word will pass to the defense. The sentence is expected by the end of April.
