" A pain that will never end , but for us parents it is important to have clarity". Speaking is Maria Usai, mother of Mia, the girl who was born on 11 September 2021 at the San Pietro clinics in Sassari and died five days later.

At birth, after just over 6 months of pregnancy , "our daughter was in excellent health conditions, as the doctors themselves told us, then unexpectedly they told us of the onset of an infection - continues Maria - and the need of a transfusion . We immediately thought about the Covid contracted in the hospital between medical and paramedical staff, but we never received any response. Mia then deteriorated considerably until they informed us of the existence of a cerebral hemorrhage without explaining whether it was as a result of the transfusion or for some other reason ».

The mother also adds that neither she nor her partner, Giangavino Meloni – the family lives in Arzachena -, were able to talk to the doctors: «Something happened in that hospital where Mia was born healthy but nobody wanted to look for any responsibility ».

« We parents are destroyed by pain and also for the Sassari prosecutor's office, our daughter's life seems to have no value. We filed a complaint through our lawyer but we never heard anything again», concludes Maria, «it is not possible that similar things happen in Italy and it is not possible that there is this lack of interest in a life that has flown away without any explanation. We only ask to know the truth ».
