The Charon anticyclone lashes Sardinia, where temperatures remain scorching.

The week began under the banner of the African heat and there were various locations on the island where the mercury columns, as they used to say, have well exceeded 40 degrees.

The maximum on Monday, according to Arpas data, was recorded in Guasila Ippodromo, where 43.3 degrees were reached.

In Nurallao they almost reached 42 and so did Domus de Maria and Dolianova.

More than 40 degrees even in Oschiri, Milis, Usini and Sardara.

In Cagliari city temperatures were more tolerable (34 degrees in Pirri and 31 in Molentargius) and so in Stintino and Santa Teresa Gallura, where the lowest maximum temperatures were recorded at regional level, respectively 31.3 and 29.6 degrees.

The forecast for the next few days remains "infernal". Suffice it to say that even 47 degrees are expected in the inland areas of southern Sardinia , one degree less than the record set on August 5, 1965, when 48 degrees reached Macomer , the same temperature recorded in Athens on July 10, 1977, which is currently the highest ever officially reached in Europe (there are also the 48.8 degrees reached in Sicily, in Contrada Monasteri, in Syracuse, on August 11, 2021, but the record is still being validated).
