Respect for the laws and importance of education in social solidarity: these are some of the themes that dominated the day of the Santuidu scouts' winter camp, spent in Castiadas between Sa Mandria and old prisons.

The children visited the museum of the former penal colony which was abandoned in 1956: the person in charge, Anna Palita , recounted the life and activities of the inmates who in those years, among the many activities, reclaimed the then marshy and impassable lands and built roads to allow the connection of the various territories. A practical demonstration was then carried out where the dogs Leo and Krisnha from the Canine Unit of the Penitentiary Police found previously hidden narcotic substances: the trainers illustrated the operating techniques and highlighted the devastating effects of narcotic substances.

The scout department heads Simone Utzeri, Eleonora Camboni and Elisa Diana recounted the day, expressing words of satisfaction for the success of an extremely profitable day for the boys.

«We are satisfied and believe it was a useful day which marked an excellent start to the winter camp in a splendid and hospitable area. We want to thank the Municipality of Castiadas, in particular the councilor Demurtas and the mayor Eugenio Murgioni", they said, "the manager of the penal colony museum Anna Palita and the Canine Unit of the Penitentiary Police who responded presently to our request for a meeting. We believe that these initiatives should be repeated because they represent opportunities for growth for children and allow them to discover a world that can only be told realistically by those who live it every day."
