Castelsardo: "Fecal bacteria in the water, but residents weren't warned."

Castelsardo has urgently requested clarification regarding the memo issued recently by the Sassari Local Health Authority (the sample was taken on August 26) regarding analyses conducted that revealed "exceeding the expected values for fecal coliforms." This means that the tap water supplied to homes and businesses contains pathogenic microorganisms derived from animal or human feces , posing a potential risk to human health.
The opposition council group “Castelsardo Bene Comune” has raised the issue, and in a note it specifies that «in the communication sent to the Municipality», the ASL recommends «the mayor to take measures to limit its use , as it is not suitable for consumption as a drink or for preparing food, but can instead only be used after boiling for consumption and for personal and domestic hygiene purposes» and to « inform the citizens, including the owners of public establishments that use mains water for preparing food, possibly verifying the mapping of the network with the managing body».
In other words, the Castelsardo Bene Comune statement further specifies, "it is recommended to determine where the water contaminated by fecal coliforms comes from and to inform the public of the health risks it poses. What does the Mayor do? He issues a vague and confusing ordinance stating that 'it is forbidden to use the water supplied to the public network at Via Colombo 6 ', that is, only at the point where the sampling was carried out. So there is no problem for the rest of the town? Can the water be used as drinking water? Furthermore, the ordinance was not publicly disclosed, other than by posting it on the notice board, as required by law. But how many citizens consult the notice board on a daily basis?"
"This is a clear attempt to cover up the news ," says former Mayor Antonio Maria Capula, speaking on behalf of the opposition group. "They want to protect the tourist center's image at the expense of residents' health. Has mapping been carried out to determine which and how many users are affected by the problem? Is it possible that the problem is limited to Via Colombo 6?"
The opposition group has submitted a question to obtain clearer information on the situation.
