Stefano Tugulu, the 41-year-old from Castelsardo who on the night of New Year's Day had violently lashed out at his 71-year-old father, was arrested for family mistreatment and voluntary personal injury.

The violent episode had occurred in the family home, around 10.30 pm, when following a furious argument that arose between the two for trivial reasons, the son, under the influence of alcohol, had repeatedly violently hit his father, a a volley of kicks and punches which caused serious injuries to his head, chest and arm. The semi-unconscious pensioner was rushed to the emergency room of the civil hospital in Sassari where he is currently hospitalized.

Following the investigations which allowed the reconstruction of the facts, the judicial authority, after the initial complaint, issued the precautionary custody order, carried out this morning by the soldiers of the Castelsardo station and the Valledoria mobile radio.
