A 9,000-square-meter area filled with waste, including hazardous waste. A shipyard and a landfill, both illegal, were found in the municipality of Carloforte . Two people were reported.
This is the result of an operation by the Carabinieri of the local station, which involved colleagues from the NOE and the Cultural Heritage Protection Command of Cagliari.
The raid took place in two separate areas, both managed by a local company operating in the tourism services sector. The first area was in Spalmadoreddu, a state-owned maritime area, and the second in Valacca .
The military discovered an unlicensed shipyard and the construction of an illegal landfill. They found a large quantity of special and hazardous waste, including a truck and 39 boats, complete with inboard and outboard motors .
The entire area was seized, and those responsible for the violations, two 59-year-old local company directors, were reported at large .
The military's attention, according to the Carabinieri press release, remains "extremely high" in monitoring productive activities along the coast, to ensure that "economic development occurs in full compliance with the regulations established to protect public health and the beauty of the Sardinian landscape."
