The first suspects in the murder of Giovanni Musu could be added to the list of suspects in the next few hours. The fifty-three-year-old was stabbed to death and his body set on fire on Saturday night in Rosmarino Park, Carbonia. His killer (with numerous stab wounds, one to the neck possibly fatal) is said to have left traces that are now being examined by the Carabinieri's RIS (Investigative Unit) .

Investigators, coordinated by prosecutor Danilo Tronci, are reportedly focusing their attention on three people . They are not currently under formal investigation, pending specialists from the Scientific Investigations Unit's completion of the examination of the biological traces found at the site of the discovery . However, DNA comparisons with the suspects, who will be formally investigated, will begin immediately thereafter.

The breakthrough came within hours, with investigators narrowing down the suspects, thanks also to some witness statements and phone records .
