The Carabinieri car stopped to let him cross. As he was walking, however, something fell out of his pocket: it was a gun. The officers immediately arrested him.

The trouble for a fifty-year-old began during the night on Via Dalmazia in Carbonia: the weapon ended up on the asphalt under the eyes of the Carabinieri of the Radiomobile Unit of the Operational and Radiomobile Nucleus of the Carbonia Company.

The patrol's action allowed them to stop the man without incident and proceed with the check: although it resembled in every way the service pistol of the Carabinieri, it was in fact a Bruni brand "blank rifle", model 92, caliber 8 mm, without the red cap and complete with a magazine containing eight blank cartridges of the same caliber.
The man was unable to provide a plausible explanation as to why he was carrying the weapon, which was then seized. The fifty-year-old was charged with possession of offensive weapons.
