«Hello, Carabinieri? Good evening, here in via Socrate, inside a construction site, I see a guy crouched in the dark who moves with a flashlight in his hand...". This report received from a citizen at the Carabinieri Operations Center in Cagliari proved to be the beginning of the end of the theft attempt carried out by a 46-year-old resident of the capital, already known to the police.

After the phone call to 112, the soldiers of the Radiomobile Unit intervened on the construction site in question and found the man "with his hands in the bag" inside a container used as offices.

During the checks and searches, the 46-year-old, from Cagliari, was found in possession of a hammer and a chisel, used to sneak in where he shouldn't have.

Not only that: the investigations revealed that the man was under house arrest because last February he had attempted to extort money in exchange for the return of a stolen bicycle.

He was therefore put in handcuffs again both for the break-in and the attempted theft and for the escape from house arrest, charges for which he will have to answer before the judicial authorities.
