Last night, a new arson attack hit the town of Bitti, in the province of Nuoro.

The target of this latest act of vandalism was a pick-up belonging to a breeder, parked on Via Giovanni XXIII, in the heart of the town. It is the fifth arson attack recorded since the end of last December and marks a worrying increase in crime in the municipality. The mayor of Bitti, Giuseppe Ciccolini, promptly reacted to the news, expressing strong concern about the growing social instability and the resurgence of acts of violence.

"After the latest arson attack, which occurred last night in Bitti, I spoke to the prefect of Nuoro, Alessandra Nigro, to express my concern due to the worsening of public order problems recorded in the town in recent months," declared the mayor.

Ciccolini also specified that the prefect reassured that the Bitti issue would be included in the work of the next Provincial Committee for Order and Security. The mayor was invited to participate in the meeting to delve deeper into the causes of this growing phenomenon and to seek shared solutions with the competent authorities.

"The situation is becoming unsustainable and it is right to give a signal of legality to those who in the shadows are undermining the climate of good civil life of our community. A climate that in recent years has certainly faced other critical issues, but not the frequency of criminal acts that have occurred recently", added Ciccolini, underlining that the frequency of vandalism has reached worrying levels. The mayor concluded: "This picture now requires us to reflect more broadly and in depth, so as to overcome this unpleasant moment as soon as possible".

A situation that requires a decisive and coordinated intervention to restore the safety and serenity of the Bittese community, victim of a wave of crimes that does not seem to stop.
