Capoterra remembers the victims of the floods that hit the area.
This morning, in the Town Hall square, the first day ceremony established by the municipal administration was held to remember the people who lost their lives in the floods that hit Capoterra on three different occasions.
On 15 October 1986, in the Cirifoddi area, Margaret Dolderer lost her life; on 13 November 1999, in via Pascoli, Felicina Piano; on 22 October 2008, between Poggio dei Pini and Su Loi, Antonello Porcu, Licia Zucca and Anna Rita Lepori.
During the ceremony, the mayor Beniamino Garau underlined the importance of not forgetting the victims of these disasters : «Their sacrifice will never be in vain, even today pronouncing the names of Margaret, Felicina, Antonello, Licia, and Anna Rita it causes pain and makes us relive those tragic moments. However, our community has been able to get back up on every occasion: the resilience that is in each of us has allowed us to see new horizons and seize the new opportunities that life offers us."
