No uncomfortable trips to the capital or nearby centers, for the citizens of Capoterra: thanks to the agreement signed between the Municipality, ASL and Dr. Efisio Baire, who will make two of his clinics available free of charge, the medical emergency and vaccination service will continue despite the closure for work of the health facility in Via Lombardia . The residents' concern was more than well-founded, because the renovation work on the ASL premises that will start soon could last even more than six months, forcing the people of Capoterra to look for a medical emergency in the towns along the coast and to go to Cagliari for the administration of the vaccines.
The mayor, Beniamino Garau , explains how the municipal administration has set to work to find a solution that would limit the inconvenience to citizens: «The dialogue with the ASL has been constant, when the possibility of using the premises of the Baire family on Via Montello arose we gladly accepted the offer. The services will be activated in the premises already used as medical clinics, the loan will last six months , possibly renewable for the time necessary to complete the renovation work in the ASL centre on Via Lombardia».
The agreement, ratified by a resolution of the Council, removes the spectre of uncomfortable transfers for residents: the premises will be used by the ASL for the medical guard service and vaccinations. Ordinary expenses such as electricity, water and heating will be supported based on an agreement between the Municipality and the ASL. "This is a gesture of great generosity - says Garau - we thank Efisio Baire and his family for having given our community the opportunity to maintain these basic services ".
Baire, a doctor, former mayor and now entrepreneur, does not feel like a benefactor at all: «I have not done anything exceptional, it was my duty to do something for my fellow citizens, now that they risked having to go outside Capoterra to have essential services such as a vaccination center and medical care , for the elderly or for those who cannot drive it would have been a big problem. The two premises are free and have all the necessary authorizations to be used for outpatient purposes: I am pleased that in the coming months they can be useful to so many people».
