The City Council approved the motion "Capoterra, a heart-protected city", presented by the Psd'Az councilor Bernadette Puddu. The document, inspired by the awareness of cardiovascular diseases as the leading cause of death in the world, focuses on the importance of prevention and timely intervention in the event of sudden cardiac arrest.

Through the installation of automatic external defibrillators (AEDs) in public places such as schools, churches and squares, as well as the organization of free training courses for volunteer citizens, the aim is to create a timely and integrated rescue network with emergency health services.

Satisfied with the approval of the proposal, Bernadette Puddu: «I am pleased that the Chamber has positively welcomed our proposal to make Capoterra a safer city. Cardioprotection is a fundamental objective for the well-being of our citizens, with this motion we intend to promote the culture of first aid and increase the chances of survival in the event of a cardiac emergency. The Mayor and Council have committed to implementing the provisions of the motion, including resources in the municipal budget for the purchase of defibrillators and for the organization of training courses".
