Thirty kilometers per hour within the historic center and in front of the places of greatest influx of pedestrians, limit of fifty in the rest of the country : this is the decision taken by the Council during the last meeting, a measure that will revolutionize traffic in Capoterra.

While in the rest of the cities of Italy the watchword is to reduce car speed as much as possible even in places where the 30 km/h limit appears excessive, the administration led by mayor Beniamino Garau goes against the trend and is ready to make distinctions.

After the approval of the provision by the Council, new road signs will be positioned which will clarify to citizens where it will be permitted to proceed at 30 km/h and where at 50. A provision, according to the plans of the municipal administration, which should make traffic more fluid citizen.

«The decision took place after a careful study of city traffic – specifies Mayor Garau -, the restrictive limit will apply throughout the historic centre, in front of schools, parks and churches, in the rest of sensitive places and in narrow streets. We realized that it is not necessary to plaster the entire town center with too rigid limits where there are no real risks for pedestrians: on the contrary, the 30 km/h limit where it is not necessary risks causing rear-end collisions and congests traffic. After the resolution, we will move on to the positioning of the new road signs."
