The warm weather continues, and with it, local police action along the Sassari coastline to protect the environment and ensure beachgoers have a safe day at the beach. And to protect the area's natural beauty, yesterday, Sunday, September 7th, in the Ezzi Mannu area, a patrol patrol engaged in the "Safe Coasts" operation issued severe fines to several foreign tourists who, while driving along the road adjacent to the Pilo pond, dumped waste from their caravan.

According to a statement from the Municipality of Sassari, while patrolling near the Pilo pond, officers noticed the vehicle leaving a trail of sewage for dozens of meters, emitting a very strong and unpleasant odor. After stopping it, officers from the Via Carlo Felice station quickly discovered that the caravan's owners had opened the wastewater drain and were dumping the polluting liquid along the road, which is located near a Special Zone of Conservation (SZC) of high natural value.

Tourists have been given a severe penalty. Indeed, partly as a result of the reform of the Highway Code, the current Article 15, which concerns littering and littering, amended by Legislative Decree 116/2025, provides for harsher penalties, which can now lead to fines of up to €18,000, license suspension, and, in the most serious cases in protected areas or those with environmental impacts, even arrest.
