«I called Palazzo Chigi and spoke about my mother's situation with the chief of staff of the Presidency of the Council. But I will not stop here to resolve the serious medical malpractice issue in which she and many other people with disabilities live."

This was stated by Dario Orrù, a 33-year-old from Oristano, who decided to try to contact Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni to report the situation in which his mother Maria Gabriella, a 73-year-old with a 100% disability, finds herself living.

For months, the sanitary cloths that the regional health system should provide free of charge to women "have been arriving in fits and starts and only after constant reports from me", Orrù explained to Ansa. Adding: «My mother's story has been going on for months, since last year they started not bringing home the parcels of clothes. She, like all incontinent people, certainly cannot remain without it, but at ASL 5 in Oristano they evidently think differently."

Orrù called everyone: the general management of the Oristano ASL, the managers of the prosthetic assistance office, he even got in touch with the representatives of the Sardinia Region and the president in pectore Alessandra Todde. The answers, he underlines, "when he received them, were vague and in some cases disrespectful". Hence the decision to also contact Palazzo Chigi.

«In recent months, after I stirred things up, we received the load of clothes we were waiting for, but after a few weeks we are back to the top again», continues Orrù. And again: «My mother is buying cloths at the pharmacy when she can with her pension money, but a pack of 14 pieces also costs 12 euros and barely covers a few days of the week. We cannot go on like this, it is not humane and respectful of the sick."

The elderly mother is also disconsolate, reports Ansa: «Instead of these cloths I find myself using bidet towels, but I am all wet up to my head. Sometimes I buy them but they cost a lot, I also have my son at home, I can't afford to buy them for the whole month. I would just like the things that are rightfully mine to be given to me, that's all."
