Touching moment on the Saline beach in Calasetta, where a specimen of blue shark (that is, a blue shark, whose Latin name is Prionace glauca) was sighted, now beached in agony.

Some citizens therefore alerted the patrols of the Forestry Corps of the Iglesias Inspectorate, belonging to the Naval Base and the Forestry Station of Sant'Antioco, who arrived on the spot and discovered that the now dying blue shark was pregnant and, with the last of her strength, was attempting to give birth to her young.
Together with some onlookers present, the foresters thus witnessed the birth of 20 small sharks, all alive, which, thanks also to the intervention of a veterinarian , were immediately released into the waters of the sea.
In fact, the patrol remained on the shore for a long time as the newborn sharks, very disoriented, continued to return to the shore, remaining trapped in the undertow and therefore risking dying.
"The presence of the unfortunate shark mother - explains the Forestry - in our sea does not represent a danger to humans because they rarely approach our coasts except for the time strictly necessary to give birth to their young".
