Abandonment of an incompetent person and failure to provide assistance, these are the charges leveled against the caregiver Maria Plugariu for the events that occurred at the end of 2020 in Calangianus.

The woman is on trial before the judges of the Tempio Court. The dramatic story is that of the 77-year-old Calangian pensioner Cesidio Cugini.

According to the indictment, the man, seriously ill, remained at least two days lying on the floor of his home, alone and without care, probably after a bad fall.

The man stopped living in the Nuoro hospital a few weeks after hospitalization.

According to the Tempio Prosecutor's Office, the caregiver did not inform the doctors and did not report the pensioner's very serious condition, furthermore she did not treat and look after him.

The elderly man's son, assisted by the lawyer Giuseppe Corda, filed a civil action against the caregiver (defended by the lawyer Oriana Erittu). Today in the courtroom, some of the prosecutor's witnesses declared that the pensioner was beaten.
