The body found this morning in Calamosca belongs to Fabio Argiolas, a 42-year-old army marshal.

There had been no news of the man since Monday 27 December, when he left his workplace to make an excursion, in the area of Calamosca and Sella del Diavolo.

The body was identified by the patrol boat of the Port Authority, on the recommendation of a passer-by, who immediately gave the references to the Alpine Rescue teams that had just arrived on the spot.

The man's body was found at the foot of a cliff, on the side of the Sella del Diavolo opposite the small port of Marina Piccola.

The doctor of the Alpine Rescue arrived on the spot and could only ascertain his death.

After the ritual checks, the Alpine Rescue technicians together with the Fire Brigade, the Army and the Coast Guard will jointly proceed with the recovery of the body, with the transport of the stretcher with the sedan chair technique and then by sea by boat.

The Operations Center of the Sardinia Speleological and Alpine Rescue was alerted this morning around 9 by the Prefecture of Cagliari and immediately sent about 15 technicians from the stations of Cagliari, Iglesias and Medio Campidano to the area of Calamosca and Sella del Diavolo.

The searches were attended by the Carabinieri of the Cagliari Station, the Port Authority, Army and Fire Brigade personnel, Coast Guard.
