9.33 am on Monday 27 March: the era of via Roma ends as the inhabitants of Cagliari (and beyond) know it. Once the four lanes on the side of the arcades have been closed, traffic is diverted to the neighboring streets and along the port. When it will reopen, the forecast is in four months, there will be only two lanes and a tree-lined avenue will be built in the central area.

Meanwhile, the announced chaos does not exist. Access was forbidden by local police cars and motorcycles, with officers deployed to manage the road network.

Perhaps the choice of a favorable time avoided the blockage: traffic flowed smoothly in the entire area between Marina and Stampace in the early stages.

Now we await the placement of the new jerseys, the concrete barriers that will make the closure definitive. Only the vehicles of the residents and those who have to carry out loading and unloading activities will be able to enter.

The new test to assess the impact on the life of Cagliari citizens is expected at lunchtime.
