Over 70 thousand euros: this is the sum subtracted, including money and jewels, by an "unfaithful" caregiver from two elderly Cagliari sisters.

The 46-year-old woman, a resident of the hinterland of the capital, has now been reported by the State Police.

The investigations conducted by the Crimes Against the Assets of the Flying Squad Section found that the woman, uncensored, made numerous withdrawals and purchases in commercial establishments using the Banco Posta cards of the two pensioners.

The investigations began after one of the two victims became aware of an unauthorized withdrawal of 500 euros and filed a complaint.

The images of the cameras positioned near the Postamat counter in via della Pineta then made it possible to identify and attribute the responsibility for the collection to the caregiver.

The 46-year-old, an employee of a cleaning and home care company, was also found to have a standard of living significantly above her income capacity.

“The continuation of the investigations made it possible to ascertain that the woman, from 2019 to October 2022, managed to remove numerous jewels worth over 30,000 euros from the home of the two sisters; the jewels were disassembled and sold in a gold shop in the hinterland ”, explain the investigators.

The same investigators then reconstructed how the caregiver appropriated over 40,000 euros over time, making repeated and increasing withdrawals with Postamat cards with which, moreover, she made frequent purchases at various commercial activities, especially in pharmacies and shops for articles. sportsmen.

The caregiver will now have to answer for theft, improper use of credit cards, abandonment of incapacitated people and self-laundering.

At the moment he has spontaneously returned only the sum of 3,500 euros.
