A 33-year-old of Ghanaian origin ended up in handcuffs yesterday in Cagliari for aggravated theft inside a well-known restaurant in via Angioj.

The incident occurred around 5:30 pm, during the break time, when an employee of the club reported the intrusion of a man intent on withdrawing money from the cash register.

The crews of the Volanti, who were in the area for a service to combat non-compliance with the anti Covid-19 regulations, reached the restaurant and surprised the man in flagrantee in front of the cash desk.

The policemen recovered the banknotes "taken" from the cash desk for a sum of 90 euros as well as a corkscrew-type tool with a blade.

The man, promptly identified and already known to the police for similar crimes, was accompanied to the Police Headquarters and arrested for aggravated theft and possession of objects capable of offending.

The owner of the restaurant, after making a formal complaint, got back the stolen money.
