In recent months it had been vandalized and then closed by the Municipality for safety reasons. But today the elevator of the Santa Chiara stairs in Cagliari is operational again.

The system, which connects Piazza Yenne to Castello, had suffered major damage to the automatic doors, forcing the administration to suspend the service that allows residents and tourists to reach the historic part of the city avoiding a long series of steps.

Now the Strategic Works, Mobility, Road Infrastructure and Networks department has completed the extraordinary maintenance intervention, which required the replacement of all safety components.
