For many he was "the doctor with a heart of gold", the one who had been fighting for years against the dismantling of the San Marcellino hospital in Muravera. And now many are mourning the death of Fabio Barbararossa, who has lost his battle against a terrible disease.

There were many social issues to which he drew attention, one in particular was that of security. The Unione Sarda had interviewed him a few years ago ( INTERVIEW HERE ), when he was the victim of an attack while he was on a bus in Cagliari. It was he who called the web editorial office because he wanted to tell what happened, he wanted a sense of civility to positively take possession of everyone, and no one could turn the other way when faced with an injustice.

"I was in Via Roma, more or less at the height of the Rinascente - he said - when two Northern European tourists got on. They sat down and shortly after a man stood between them and started to bother them". The doctor began to stare and in response the attack was triggered, with a series of blows that had made him end up in the emergency room and with a 15-day prognosis.

"Unfortunately - was his observation - I found myself in a situation in which anyone who tramples the soil of our city today can be found. I had no difficulty in intervening in defense of those two girls, who could have been my daughters, my friends. Everyone should do it, but most of all, no one should be forced to live through similar episodes. My parents taught me that when you fall you have to get up and you also have to pick something up. Well, I want the press to talk about it because these things don't more must happen and the authorities, including political ones, must take charge of this problem, without hiding behind a finger ".

Fabio Barbarossa was 67 years old, he was originally from Arbus. Less than a month ago he wrote a post on his Facebook profile: “My life could end in a short distance. Anyway, I thank you all and I will remember those who loved me. In any case, I still have hope for my life to make sense. I embrace you all ".
