The area of the Roman Amphitheater in Cagliari, occupied by two homeless people, has been cleaned up and cleared .

This morning at 7 the intervention of the Local Police which, the municipality informs us, took place "in the utmost serenity thanks to the collaboration of the two subjects" , also supported by the operators of the Social Policy Service.

After the eviction, the Hygiene Service cleaned up the area, removing the large amount of waste present not only in the area occupied by the two homeless people but up to the entrance to the Amphitheater . At the same time, the operators of the Civil Protection and Public Works closed the illegally opened passage through which even children and tourists who did not want to pay the entrance ticket were introduced into the Amphitheater.

At 10 the operation ended and the structure was fully operational and usable by visitors again.

"Continued contacts with the Superintendency of Archaeology, Fine Arts and Landscape for the Metropolitan City of Cagliari remain open, aimed at sending, expected at the end of the summer season, the definitive project for the recovery of the Roman Amphitheater ».

The administration has in fact entrusted a group of professionals headed by the "Ortu, Pillola e associati" architectural studio with the task of designing protection and safety interventions for the usability of the monument, the creation of a performance area and of connecting paths with the Botanical Garden . On April 6, the Superintendence received a draft of the project and now, after the geognostic investigations necessary to define it completely, the administration will formally send the Superintendency the technical and economic feasibility project.
