The anniversary of San Matteo, patron saint of the Guardia di Finanza, was celebrated in Cagliari, at the Basilica of NS di Bonaria.

The celebration was officiated on Thursday 21 September by Monsignor Sergio Siddi , Vicar General of the Military Ordinariate for Italy, welcomed by Brigadier General Claudio Bolognese, Regional Commander of Sardinia, together with the concelebrating military chaplains.

The civil and military authorities took part in the ceremony, including representatives of the Regional Council and Council, the ordinary and accounting judiciary, the Prefecture, the Government Representative and the other Armed Forces and the Police Forces. Present was the ANFI (National Association of Italian financiers) and numerous officers and soldiers belonging to the Commands and Departments of the Cagliari Corps.

In conjunction with the celebrations , other initiatives to bring together the Fiamme Gialle are planned, including the meeting with families and the pilgrimage entitled "117 km with San Matteo" , which this year will travel along the paths between religious buildings in Sardinia also stages of the Camino de Santiago, the most famous pilgrimage in the world which has the cathedral of Santiago de Compostela as its destination.

The Patron Saint was also celebrated in the other offices of the Provincial Commands of the Island.
