The Fire Brigade has acquired the barracks on Viale Marconi, which until now had been owned by the Municipality of Cagliari. The handover and the signing of the technical-operational agreement took place this morning in the presence of the mayor of Cagliari, Massimo Zedda, with the head of the State Property Agency - Sardinia Region Directorate, Rita Soddu, who met this morning with the head of the National Fire Brigade, Eros Mannino, the regional director, Nicola Micele, and the provincial commander, Luca Manselli.

The moment of discussion represented a fundamental step to strengthen the dialogue between the institutions and to jointly address the priorities and operational needs of the territory, helping to consolidate the security presence and strengthen the synergy between public bodies and local institutions . "Today's agreement - explained Mayor Zedda - is part of a path based, thanks to the collaboration between institutions, within the "City Plan", with the idea that public property can be made available to the needs of each body. With this signature we also go beyond the mere transfer of the property, with the possibility of reasoning about a broader development idea that concerns the redevelopment of the place, the merging of different locations and the organization of new areas for staff training".

During the event this morning, Thursday 22 May 2025, the ceremony was also held to name the Aula Magna of the Provincial Command of the Fire Brigade of Cagliari after Firefighter Cristoforo Frontemaggi , born on 26 May 1895 and who died in service in 1943, during the bombings that hit the city , while he was providing assistance to the civilian population, for which he was awarded the Silver Medal for Civil Valor in 1947.
