Everything is ready in Cagliari for the 16th edition of the Andrea Parodi Prize , one of the most important European contests dedicated to the universe of World Music . The finals are scheduled for 12 to 14 October at the Teatro Massimo.

There are 8 artists in the running for recognition , all with varied and original stylistic proposals. They are: Andrea Andrillo (Sardinia) , Curamunì (Sicily), Guido Maria Grillo (Campania), Looping Greis (Madrid), Osso sacrum (Campania), Ra Di Spina (Campania), Hiram Salsano (Campania), Trillanti (Lazio ). The Award - created by the Foundation of the same name with the artistic direction of Elena Ledda - was created to pay homage to the Sardinian musician Andrea Parodi, famous first with Tazenda and then in the field of world music. Having passed away in 2006, his work is still the subject of great attention and affection.

The finalists were selected by an artistic commission from around 250 participants, almost half of whom were foreigners (demonstrating the artistic importance of the recognition). The parterre of guests is of the highest level , starting with Paolo Angeli , guitarist and composer acclaimed by critics and the public, who will receive the Roll of Honor Award . But there will also be a pillar of Italian popular music like Fausta Vetere (with Umberto Maisto ), an eclectic and imaginative singer-songwriter like Peppe Voltarelli and the very young accordion virtuoso Giacomo Vardeu . And also the Ual-la! , the Catalan duo who won last edition.

For the finals, the artists will perform live in front of a panel of jurors made up of authoritative experts, including journalists Paola Pilia and Giacomo Serreli . Radiolina and Sardegna 1 are also media partners of the event . For the overall winner, a scholarship of €2,500 and the possibility of performing in some Parodi partner festivals in 2024, such as the European Jazz Expo (Sardinia) and Folkest (Friuli), as well as in the Andrea Parodi Prize itself. The winner of the Critics' Award will instead be able to create a professional video clip of a song, produced by the Andrea Parodi Foundation. For some of the finalists of the Award there will also be the possibility of being invited by some of the partner festivals (such as Mare e Miniere, Premio Bianca d'Aponte, Premio Città di Loano for traditional Italian music, Mo'l'estate Spirit Festival, Musiconnect - Italy). The evenings, which will begin at 8.30pm, have free admission. However, reservations are required at Boxoffice Sardegna (070 657428 - info@boxofficesardegna.it).
