"Our life has been ruined by a family member, a gambling addict and drug addict, who needs treatment and a specialized facility or community to take care of him."

The request for help, much more like a cry of pain, comes from a family in Cagliari. A 91-year-old man has been held hostage by his 58-year-old son for almost twenty years. «Our brother», explains one of the daughters, «has taken over the house of our father who cannot stay with him because he is constantly threatened, robbed and subjugated. Dad cries every day. He wants to go home, but we had to take him away from there."

The 58-year-old, a former PA employee who made money disappear from the institution's coffers, has a disability and confirmed pathologies. He spent a period of time in the community and had a support administrator, but in 2020 he asked for his revocation: «From that moment on he really did all sorts of things. All the complaints have led to nothing and social services tell us there is nothing they can do. But it should be taken care of."
