From next January 29th the First Director of the State Police Giacinto Mattera will leave the Cagliari Police Headquarters to move to the Oristano Police Headquarters, with the prestigious position of Vicar of the Police Commissioner.

Doctor Mattera has a very long career behind him: in the administration of Public Security since 1987, after having attended the four-year training course for Police Officers at the Higher Police School in Rome, he was assigned, in 1992, to the Police Headquarters of Milan where he held the position of official in various offices of that capital, including the UPGSP and city police stations.

In 1995 he was transferred to Cagliari, to the then established XIII “Sardinia” Mobile Department. In September 2000 he was assigned to the Cagliari Police Headquarters, with the role of Cabinet Office official. His CV also includes experience abroad, in particular in 2001 he was sent to Albania, as part of an Italian Joint Police Mission.

Upon his return to Cagliari he was appointed manager of the Office for Immigration and Foreigners and subsequently manager of the PS Commissariat of Quartu Sant'Elena.

In 2014 he was designated Manager of the Sassari Traffic Police Section, while in 2017 he was promoted to First Manager and assigned to the Nuoro Traffic Police Section.

In 2020, he was transferred to the "Liguria" Traffic Police Department, where he directed the Genoa Traffic Police Section.

In January 2022 he returned to the Police Headquarters, in Cagliari, with the role of director of the Social Administrative and Immigration Police.
