A gold medal for "Victim of Terrorism," two new officers, and 11 new knights. These were the highlights of the award ceremony for the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic, held today at the Government Palace in Cagliari.
The awards were presented by the outgoing prefect of Cagliari, Giuseppe Castaldo, in a moment of great recognition and pride for the recipients. The honors were bestowed by the President of the Republic on the recipients from our region.
The gold medal was awarded to Ruggero Olla in memory of his son Silvio, an army marshal who died on November 12, 2003, in Nassyria. The new officers are Lucio Mura and Adriano Barbieri, and knights Giuliano Manca, Angelo Caruso, Gianfranco Desogus, Livio Putzolu, Roberto Ravagnan, Cesare Salvo, Alfredo Saviano, Fausta Lorusso, Maria Elena Saba, Roberto Zanghì, and Salvatore Antonino Scriva.
