A large ficus tree fell this afternoon on the road in Viale Merello, in Cagliari: the large trunk crushed a Yaris parked on the left side of the road and further damage was mitigated by the fact that the treetop was slowed down by the trolleybus cables.

Until the final removal, transit by vehicles is impossible: traffic has been diverted and even CTM buses have been diverted to other routes.

The firefighters intervened on site to secure the area, and local police officers to manage traffic.

In recent times there have been numerous interventions by the workers of the municipal public greens to prune and uproot trees that appeared diseased. This one, it seems, has escaped control.
