A handful of soldiers, armed, emerge from behind a wall, outside the areas fenced with barbed wire.

They were found in front of them this morning, in Cagliari , by a university student who had decided to take a peaceful jog over the Calamosca hill, up to the fort of Sant'Ignazio. They were part of the 151st Army Regiment.

Next door begins the militarized area, which the Ministry of Defense declared "disposable" 16 years ago because it was no longer useful for institutional purposes. But the Region never pressed its hand, and never carried out a negotiation on the spaces to be given in exchange. Everything has remained as it was then.

In the complex map of military servitudes, the fort appears to be in the hands of the Navy. But in any case, to reach it it is necessary to pass through roads that are not military. No shots were fired.

«My girlfriend», says PS, the boyfriend of the young woman who took the photographs, «found herself in the middle of a military exercise. Once the scare passed, the commander kindly apologized and canceled the exercise due to the presence of civilians."

According to what transpires, however, that squad was on site because this morning maintenance would have been carried out on a radio system. And the escort was necessary.
