Parrots and other exotic animals ready for sale but kept in terrible sanitary conditions : this is what the Carabinieri of Sant'Avendrace discovered in a local business specializing in the sale of exotic animals.

Some of the specimens, during the inspection in the presence of specialized veterinary personnel, were also found to be in an evident state of distress.

The police therefore identified the possibility of the crime of keeping animals in conditions incompatible with their nature, as provided for by the Criminal Code. They then proceeded to file a criminal complaint against the business owner, a 74-year-old woman from Cagliari.

Given the poor sanitary condition of the premises, the entire business and the animals were simultaneously seized, and the animals have been placed in judicial custody of the accused.
