Cagliari, electric cables for the metro fall on cars: traffic chaos in via Roma
They were held with cable ties that, cooked by the sun, could not hold the weight: traffic diverted on Viale DiazVideo di Massimiliano Rais
The overhead power cables fell on cars in transit. Fortunately, there were no injuries due to the accident that occurred this morning in Viale Colombo, in the stretch near Piazza Deffenu, under Palazzo Tirso, in Cagliari.
However, there were serious repercussions for traffic: during the safety intervention by the firefighters , traffic coming from Via Roma on the port side was diverted towards Viale Diaz, due to the closure of Viale Colombo.
According to an initial reconstruction, the ones that gave way were the cable ties that held the cables hanging, placed in view of the construction of the Arst light metro, in the central lane of Via Roma. Cooked by themselves, and perhaps not suitable for supporting that weight, they tore by the dozens.
