Four years in prison for Ilaria Gaviano, a 39-year-old from Cagliari, and acquittal for Ciprian Baicenau, a 46-year-old Romanian.

This is the sentence read by the judge of the Court, Giorgio Altieri, who only partially accepts the request of the prosecutor Rita Cariello for the trial with an abbreviated trial for robbery and for the death as a consequence of another crime of Mario Mulas, the 75 year old man found lifeless on 8 October in Viale Elmas in the square of the company he managed with his children.

Gaviano is defended by the lawyer Carlo Demurtas, Baicenau by the lawyer Carlo Amat. The victim's family is a civil party with the lawyer Luca Sannio.

Mulas was found on Sunday morning, lifeless, in the square of the tire business belonging to the family. He had fallen while trying to get out of the window of the house, after having suffered a robbery, which according to the prosecution had been carried out by the two defendants. Locked in a room, the seventy-five year old had tried to free himself, but a fall had been fatal.

Gaviano, when questioned, admitted to having stolen from the home of the year-old victim and to having fled in the man's van.
