They took pictures to avoid taking notes as slides were projected during class. But those images in the memory of the smartphones of the students of the Faculty of Languages of the University of Cagliari , which date back to recent days, now have a completely different meaning.

After the collapse of the building that housed them until a few hours earlier, attention is drawn to those cracks that can be seen above their heads, on the second floor.

It is not the attic, but it is a piece of the ceiling. It is spun: this could be a normal consequence of a settlement of the structure. Or, given the devastation at 10pm on Wednesday night, those black traces could be underestimated signs of imminent failure.

The cracks may have formed because a rotation of the walls was in progress. And the movement was such that everything collapsed, even going to force on structures damaged by humidity: the patch is seen in another image.

On the steps of the main hall, which was on the ground floor, there are visible cracks covered by the green of what appears to be linoleum. A masonry base that was opening? Or just an empty rise?

It will be the investigation of the Prosecutor's Office to establish the truth . What is certain is that the boys had noticed that something was wrong. And for them those photos are confirmation of their suspicions.

“We had only been there for two weeks”, said the representative of the students of the Faculty, Sara Piu, “there had been some works recently. And it all came down. We could all have died ”.

One element makes the insiders reflect: the collapse (fortunately) occurred when there was no one inside. So there was no load on the attics. It means that the structure was at the limit of resistance. And overcame it.
