Cagliari, conductor beaten at bus stop on via Roma ends up in hospital

Controller beaten last night in Cagliari .
It happened near Piazza Matteotti, at the bus stop on Via Roma . Luckily, the Carabinieri were nearby, a crew from the IX Battalion Sardinia, who were alerted by some passers-by.
The soldiers saw a 31-year-old Senegalese man, already known to the police and in an obvious state of alteration, repeatedly hitting the ticket inspector . Even when he noticed the presence of the carabinieri, the man continued to hit the inspector, until the intervention of the same soldiers, who stopped him and arrested him for resisting a public official.
The 31-year-old was placed under house arrest pending a summary trial; the victim, a 53-year-old man, was taken to Brotzu .
Also yesterday evening, a patrol from the Radiomobile Section intervened in via Dante after a report of a theft from a supermarket . A 55-year-old man, homeless and already known to the police , had been surprised by security personnel with food items stolen from the shelves for a value of approximately 120 euros; in an attempt to escape, he pushed and hit the security guard .
The carabinieri stopped him nearby, recovering all the stolen goods. The man was arrested for improper robbery and held in the security cells awaiting the validation hearing. The security guard, examined on site, refused transport to the hospital .
