A huge void left by Don Alberto Pistolesi, the priest who died in a dramatic accident yesterday in Quartu while, in his car, he was driving along the Poetto road.

The Church of Cagliari also expresses great condolences, experiencing "an immense pain for the tragic death of the beloved son, young and full of life, capable of enthusing men and women of all generations, and animating communities with love".

Recalling a phrase of Pope Francis, "the loss of a son or a daughter is as if time stopped: a chasm opens that swallows the past and also the future", Archbishop Giuseppe Baturi expresses "a feeling of profound condolences, in the name of the entire diocesan family, for the loss of a dear brother ”.

“We cling to the faith of our Lord - said the high prelate - dead and risen, in whom our tears are collected, but in the certainty of the resurrection, which was the true soul of Don Alberto's apostolate. We entrust him to the Lord to resurrect him and keep him close to himself. A thought to the family, in particular to his mother Lidia, to his sister Valentina and to his brother Francesco - he concludes - to whom we assure our affection and our prayers ”.

Tonight at 9 pm, in the Basilica of Our Lady of Bonaria in Cagliari, a prayer vigil will be organized by the diocesan youth ministry.
