The 33rd edition of the city chess tournament organized at the Stammtisch brewery in Cagliari by the manager Karl Heinz in collaboration with the Cagliari chess club ended with the victory of Andrea Cagno, ahead of the historic champion Detlef Hofmann, who finished second. Third place Nello Liguori.

The appointment in Piazza Galilei, traditionally organized on the first Monday after Easter Monday, is the longest-running chess tournament in the province of Cagliari: it has been celebrated continuously since 1990.

Originally from Serramanna, 27 years old, Andrea Cagno has therefore imposed himself by a measure on the research scientist of the CRS4 of German origin, but for years now in Sardinia. The young chess player had registered for the competition only a few hours before the appointment, however, managing to overcome champions who have won several editions of the historic tournament.
