Job insecurity in Sardinia is now alarming: only 10% of contracts are permanent, while the remaining 90% are characterized by extreme flexibility and seasonality . A condition that affects thousands of workers and that pushes the Cgil to mobilize on several fronts.

On Thursday, a meeting will be held at the Fiera, with executives, delegates and citizens to officially launch the referendum campaign on work and rights. Four questions will concern the abolition of the most damaging provisions of the Jobs Act, including those that have favored precariousness and reduced worker protections. A fifth referendum, instead, aims to shorten the time it takes for foreigners who live and work permanently in the country to obtain Italian citizenship. The meeting will be concluded by Secretary General Maurizio Landini.

The Cgil asks the Government to set the date of the referendum as soon as possible, which must take place between April 15 and June 15. To ensure real participation, the unions ask that the vote take place on a Sunday favorable to turnout and that a solution be introduced to allow students and workers living away from home to exercise their right to vote without obstacles.

"We need a concrete commitment to bring work and rights back to the center of the political agenda," Durante emphasizes. "We can no longer accept that decisions about the future of thousands of workers are postponed indefinitely."

While waiting for the official referendum date, the Cgil announces a large mobilization throughout the Island . Local committees will be organized in every town, neighborhood and hamlet, with the aim of involving the greatest possible number of citizens in the referendum campaign.
