He had left a Fiat Punto parked on the pedestrian crossing in Via Tigellio, and when he returned it was gone: the tow truck had taken it away. From here a scene from an action movie was born: around 1:30 pm this afternoon he showed up at the local police towed car depot, in Viale Monastir (not far away), he went in, looked for the car, parked it and drove off. Breaking through the barrier, which is raised only with permission, and then running away.

The alarm was raised immediately, but the escape lasted only a few blocks. In a few minutes he was tracked down and stopped by a patrol of the Carabinieri in Via del Commercio, about a kilometer away, without even leaving Cagliari. The patrols of the same local police also intervened on the spot, in support. About an hour after the escape from the warehouse, the car was – again – removed by a tow truck and brought back to Viale Monastir .

The driver, who is not the registered owner of the car, was stopped and taken to the municipal police station in via Crespellani in Mulinu Becciu. He was inevitably reported to the judicial authorities for the theft of seized property: this is because vehicles removed are considered equivalent to those under seizure . In addition, he will also have to answer for the damage to the barrier (which did not break, but was deviated from its original position) and it is obvious that he will have to pay compensation for the damage caused.

As for the car, instead, it is now back at the depot in Viale Monastir. And it can be regularly collected, paying the fine for illegal parking. But the removals against it will be two, given the second intervention .
