Cagliari is betting on culture and shows, and it is doing so with new calls for cultural activities that include contributions for over 900 thousand euros. All this despite the difficulties in finding resources due to the " continuous cuts by the State to current spending for local authorities" : 400 thousand euros are earmarked for annual contributions for cultural activities and shows in the city, 264 thousand euros for three-year ones. In addition, the commitment of a further allocation of another 250 thousand euros for the financing of projects that are eligible for partial beneficiaries and eligible for non-beneficiaries.
As explained by the mayor, Massimo Zedda, «just like social services, public transport, education, we consider cultural and entertainment activities to be essential services, both for the citizens and for the promotion of Cagliari: from this idea the commitment to finding resources, at a time when the funds destined for the current expenditure of the Municipalities are once again subject to cuts by the national Government . In addition, we are intervening on the spaces destined for culture and entertainment : the small Auditorium at the Marina, the reopening of the Civic Theatre in the Castle, the Amphitheatre, the preparation of the concert space at the Fair and the future new spaces in the redeveloped areas of Sant'Elia».
"The promotion and support of cultural and entertainment activities in the city - underlined the Councilor for Culture, Entertainment and Tourism Maria Francesca Chiappe - is a fundamental task for our administration: with the annual contributions we aim to also encourage the birth of new initiatives, with the three-year contributions, whose allocation has been doubled, we support the already consolidated realities in the city and their multi-year programming".
An important differentiation, the distinction between the grants that can be paid, also according to councilor Marta Mereu, president of the Culture Commission: «The work done, although not simple, is a source of great satisfaction: the needs of the smaller exhibitions and activities were taken into account, but also of the more structured ones, the events that have been going on for years and that now characterize Cagliari at a national level».
