This morning they were in Monte Claro. Then they moved to Molentargius: around one o'clock they were in the Medau Su Cramu area. The men of the Cagliari ASL task force are working in all the green areas of the city to assess the health of the birds, after the discovery of an outbreak of avian flu that forced specialists to kill all the birds of Monte Urpinu.

"At the moment we have no evidence of symptoms", explains Mario Lai, director of the animal health complex of the health company, "but we have to wait for the next few days for the results of the analyzes".

The concern, among experts and administrators, is that the infection may have spread even outside the park in the Cagliari hill.

The eyes are focused above all on the protected oasis around the salt flats near the Poetto: a fragile ecosystem, a paradise for flamingos, which could be upset in the event of the spread of the disease. The killing of all the specimens of Monte Urpinu was necessary precisely to try to stem the transmission of the virus: a vector bird is enough to trigger a dangerous chain.

The ASL team, under the direction of the Crisis Unit of the Region, will also beat Santa Gilla and Terramaini. The goal is to save the animals.
