"The health of minors must remain an absolute priority and we cannot allow the current deficiencies of the facility to continue to compromise the well-being of our young patients." The alarm is raised by Gianfranco Angioni, regional manager of Usb Sanità, who reports a critical situation in the pediatric emergency room of Brotzu. Inside, ENT consultations are guaranteed only during daytime shifts from Monday to Friday. In other cases, children in need must be transported by ambulance to other facilities. "The lack of an ENT clinic open during night shifts and weekends represents not only a lack of healthcare provision, but also a violation of the rights of young patients and their families," he points out.

" I find it unacceptable - continues Angioni - that children, already weakened by illness or trauma, are forced to travel a dangerous and usually inadvisable route, most often on foot, even in adverse weather conditions . The problem becomes even more relevant during the night shift, when the Oss is sent to carry out a consultation in an ambulance. This decision leaves the emergency room without fundamental support, thus increasing the workload for nursing staff, already subjected to unsustainable pressure". The request of Usb Sanità is to guarantee continuous access (24 hours a day) to specialist care, to avoid travel .

In a note addressed to the top management of Brotzu, Angioni also requests the opening of a specific clinic inside the San Michele hospital, complete with all the essential equipment to ensure care for children. " This situation is intolerable and requires a firm and immediate response from the Management ," concludes Angioni.
